An Open Letter to the US Public

My friends from the US,

I know that this open letter to American public will not be read by most of you. But I wrote it anyway with a hope that somebody may read it.

Even if some of you read this letter and agree with the contents, I do not know what you might do next? But I wrote it anyway.

It is a fact that your great, great grandfathers established USA with big challenges they faced.

You and/or grandfathers and/or grandmothers crossed oceans, deserts and land boundaries for a better life.

Now, at present, you have created such a powerful country that leads the world.

Your institutions created “the rule of law”, “free world” etc.

Your country has "trustable sisters” like Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand. They are “strong allies”.

Your presidents, your governments know value of partnerships, alliances with other nations.

It is true that your language, English, is almost the second unofficial language for almost countries for those who want to communicate.

It is true that your divine beliefs, among others, helped your country to increase your life standards.

Trouble starts here. As time goes by the new generations forget about the past; their roots, hardships and the difficulties that their ancestors have gone through.

I lived through USA’s golden years.  At my age, who can deny positive effects of soft voices like Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and so on? The image of the US in all over the world was strengthened by Western movies and of Audrey Hepburn and other players.

But those days were gone. Today, we are all living in a different world. Even tomorrow’s world will be a lot different than today’s.

I know for fact now, my country, Türkiye is a member of NATO. Thereby, we are allies. The US is also acting alone to protect your own interests and helping the hostile groups to my country.  I am afraid that one of the military troops you send to my country’s borders to protect your interests will be eliminated by our military to protect us. I do not believe this is a true alliance.

Friends from USA,

In order to sleep well in your bed, you need us. We are human beings, like you, and you seem to forget this fact. While your governments struggle with China, Russia etc. for leadership; you all seem to forget the following fact: we are all human beings.

Enough is enough.
